Lupang hinirang, hinirang kong lupa

Happy independence day, Philippines. Maligayang pagdiriwang ng iyong paglaya.

May kahulugan pa rin at lagi ang ika-dose ng Hunyo.



Lupang hinirang
Bayang magiliw, perlas ng silanganan
Alab ng puso,sa dibdib mo'y buhay
Lupang hinirang, duyan ka ng magiting
Sa manlulupig di ka pasisiil

Sa dagat at bundok, sa simoy at sa langit mong bughaw
May dilag ang tula, at awit sa paglayang minamahal
Ang kislap ng watawat mo'y tagumpay na nagniningning
Ang bituin at araw niya'y kailan pa may di magdidilim

Lupa ng araw ng luwalhating pagsinta, buhay ay langit sa piling mo
Aming ligaya na pag may mang aapi
Ang mamatay ng dahil sa'yo.

Googled 'Lupang Hinirang' after reading your post. Of course, hats off to Jose Palma and Julian Felipe for the original hymn. Though no word on who exactly translated the present official Filipino version. Genius as well, whoever he was. Sinalin ng isang makata. Beautiful lyrics. I'm thinking it could also be a group effort to come up with a fine piece of work.

Ruthie, I thought this version was more heartfelt. Moved me to tears actually. I don't mind Martin's version at all, though, I could see his sincerity as he sang it.
